Police were on the scene of a stabbing in east El Paso on Sunday night. It happened a bit after 9 p.m. at Circo's Bar and Kitchen at 1610 N. Zaragoza and Vista Del Sol. One stabbing victim was rushed to a hospital with serious injuries, according to a fire department dispatcher. KVIA.

A man out on bond for a gun possession charge was arrested Tuesday in the shooting death of HPD Sgt. Sean Rios, as investigators continue to piece together what precipitated the deadly gun battle on Houston's northside. Robert Soliz, 24, was taken into custody on the Katy Freeway and now faces a murder charge, police said. Case records were not yet available Tuesday night.

Two nonprofits who keep track of law enforcement line of duty deaths say that COVID-19 is responsible for killing more officers per year than gunfire, car accidents, and all other causes combined. Prosecutors charged a 36-year-old man Wednesday with a brazen ambush of two Los Angeles County sheriff’s deputies earlier this month, an apparently unprovoked shooting as they sat in a squad car outside a rail station. On Thursday, officials told ABC-7 that five of their recruits in the police academy, as well as six training officers there have tested positive for Covid-19. COVID-19 cases among El Paso first responders

The city of El Paso has provided data on COVID-19 cases within the El Paso Police Department and El Paso Fire Department. According to the city, 128 members of EPPD have been quarantined and 100 have been tested for COVID-19. Of those tested, 14 tests came back positive. City officials said 25 of those quarantined remain out of work and 97 have returned to work.
